Are you familiar with the term YouTube? I think so. Either way, I would like to tell you how to make the most of it.

As you know, YouTube is an online tool where you can easily find infinite videos on a vast array of topics (I used to say: if it’s not on YouTube, it doesn’t exist). It is extremelly useful because it can combines sound and images, which could be videos, photos, infographics, and much more. And the very best part is that you can watch videos as many times as you want. It's free to use, and with just one click, you can get access to a lot of resources and navigate through them.

What to do in class:

Using the Internet, make a list of other family members that don't appear in the video. Share them in class, and together we will create a family tree.

Another Blog

In this post, I would love to share with you another blog. It is created to learn the English language in a fun way and to deepen your knowledge of the language through the pictures and sentences it contains. In the pictures, you can find someone acting and a speech bubble with a sentence in it. You will learn proper English idioms to spice up your vocabulary little by little.

What to do in class:

In this blog, you can find many pictures where, through images, you can learn new idioms. I would love for you to choose one of them and analyze it. Your task will be to: underline the words you don't understand and share them with the rest of the class. We will make a list with the word, its meaning, and a drawing of it. With some of the less understandable words, we will use them to create sentences.

DIGITAL STORY TELLING

What is Digital Storytelling?

It is a resource where people can create short videos based on different topics in order to share stories. It is a very innovative tool and combines images, audio, video, infographics, and other resources to create storytelling that lasts between 2 and 3 minutes in length. For that, the topic needs to be very specific. For example, if we want to talk about a book, we shouldn't narrate the whole book. In this case, it is better to focus on just one chapter of it.

It is a very engaging tool to use in class due to all the vast possibilities we can combine to create our video. Working in groups or in pairs, they must brainstorm all the ideas they would like to share with the rest of the class. Once they have selected one, it will be time to work on the script, plan the storytelling, and look for images. Once they have everything ready, it will be time to create the storytelling and share it with their beloved audience.

There are a lot of different apps or tools to create storytelling. To make it simple, I have chosen this one for you guys.
